Corporate Membership

Membership Eligibility

To be eligible for election or transfer to this class of membership, a candidate must fulfill the following conditions:
  1. Must possess one or more of the following academic qualifications, that is to say:
    1. B.Sc. Engineering
    2. HND Engineering
    3. HNC Engineering OR
    4. Any other qualification which in the opinion of the Council is equivalent to any of the qualification stated above
  2. Must have had Three years’ experience in practical Engineering work, at least Two years of which must have been spent in appropriate training supervised by a qualified and experienced Technologist.
  3. Be ready, if the Council so requires, to submit written papers and attend an interview to enable the Council further, to determine the suitability of the candidate for this class of membership.

Requirements

Alongside a completed membership form, applicants are required to submit the following:
  1. A detailed Curriculum Vitae
  2. Copies of engineering certificates
  3. Two (2) recent passport-sized photographs
  4. Photocopy of membership application form receipts
  5. Bound copy of technical write-up on post-graduation practical experience containing details of a choice project of 1000-5000 words, minimum in length

Things To Know

Before proceeding, here are things you should take note of:
  1. After submission of membership form, a professional interview will be conducted on a date to be decided by the Council
  2. If nominated as a member, the membership will form part of the requirement for COREN registration
  3. Every application for election, re-election or transfer to any of the categories of membership shall be made by filling and signing the official application form as may be described by the Council
  4. Every completed application form shall be accompanied by the appropriate fee as may be prescribed by the Council and also the evidence of the qualification for the category of membership being applied for
  5. The Council shall at its own discretion determine the eligibility of each applicant for the category of membership being applied for and the decision of the Council in this regard shall be final. To reach its decision the council may not invite the applicant for personal interview
  6. It shall be the absolute right of the Council to refuse to give any reason for rejecting an applicant
  7. Every applicant shall be informed in writing whatever be the Council’s decision on his application

The breakdown of fees associated with this membership (for Nigerians) includes:

Please note that every Applicant is to make payment in full or two segments. The first segment is to pay Thirty Thousand Naira (₦30,000) for membership Application form and Second Segment of Twenty-Five Thousand Naira (₦25,000) and Five Thousand Naira (₦5,000) Welfare Levy for Corporate Membership fees, after a successful Interview for Certificate to be awarded. For those who wish to apply for COREN registration, through the Association, they have to pay Five Thousand Naira (₦5,000.00) as COREN facilitating fee and the sum of Nine Thousand, (₦9,000.00) for COREN application.

Fellow Membership

Membership Eligibility

The Executive Council of the Association may elect or transfer any candidate in this class of membership provided that such candidate into this class of membership has satisfied the Council on the following:
  1. That he is not less than 40 years of age
  2. That he has continuously been a Corporate member of the Association for a period of five years immediately preceding the date of his appointment
  3. That at the time of his application he is holding and has been so holding for a period of five years preceding his time of application or election a senior Engineering position either in Government or in an industry or at any advanced institution of learning.
  4. That the Council of Management of the Association may, if it deems it necessary, request the applicant to submit a paper upon a subject to be elected by the applicant from a list of subjects approved for this purpose by the Council.
  5. That he has not defaulted in the payment of his normal dues or special levy as at the time of making his application.
  6. That apart from the above, the applicant is in the opinion of the Council a fit and proper person be a Fellow of the Association

  3. Two (2) recent passport-sized photographs
  4. Photocopy of membership application form receipts
  5. Citations

Associate Membership

Membership Eligibility

To be eligible for election or transfer to this class of membership, a candidate must fulfill the following conditions:
  1. A person elected as such by the council who are not deemed qualified in the opinion of the Council for Corporate membership of the Institution but by virtue of academic qualifications held and work in field related to Engineering and wish to be associated with the Association and its activities
  2. Must not be less than 21 years of age at the time of application
  3. Have had at least 5 years continuous employment in a responsible position in any branch of science in Government or Industry, which in the opinion of Council is related to Engineering
  4. Satisfy the Council that by their qualifications and previous experience in the position they occupy at the time of election, their admittance as Associates will promote the declared objects of the institution and its further development

OR

  1. Must be a graduate of a polytechnic, colleges of technology and similar institutions at the Ordinary National Diploma level or equivalents as may be determined by the Council
  2. Must not less than 18 years of age at the time of application
  3. Have had at least two (2) years continous employment after graduation

  5. Evidence of discharge or exemption from the National Youth Service Corps Scheme
  6. Bound copy of technical write-up on post-graduation practical experience containing details of a choice project of 1000-5000 words, minimum in length

Membership Eligibility

To be eligible for election or transfer to this class of membership, a candidate must fulfill the following conditions:
  1. Must possess one or more of the following academic qualifications, that is to say:

  3. Under 21 years of age at the time of application

  4. Photocopy of membership application form receipts

Student Membership

Membership Eligibility

To be eligible for this class of membership, a candidate must fulfill the following conditions:
  1. Must be a student in a NATE recognized institution and course of study

Requirements

Alongside a completed membership form, applicants are required to submit the following:
  1. A detailed Curriculum Vitae
  2. Copies of prior certificates obtained
  3. Two (2) recent passport-sized photographs
  4. Photocopies of evidence of studentship in the current year i.e. results and ID cards

  1. Successful final year HND II Students will be entitled to be inducted as graduate members before Proceeding on NYSC, subject to the payment of all necessary payment and completion of the appropriate form
