Introduction Engineering is a multilateral discipline focused on the use of creativity to design solutions to the world’s problems and help build the future. Cebr Consultancy Report, (2016)

in The Royal Academy of Engineering defined Engineering as the ‘creative application of scientific principles’, that are put in practice to invent, design, build, maintain and improve structures, machines, devices, systems, materials and processes, thus, intending to account for the fact that the scope of engineering is continually evolving because of the dynamic nature of engineering-related industries (www.raeng.org.uk)Ordinarily, Technology is the application of scientific knowledge. Technology can be defined in terms of high-level   , technology and engineering fields, and expenditure on research and development as a percentage of Gross Domestic Product (Ake, 1984).

It more so encompasses the transfer of knowledge, skill, organization, values and capital from the point of generation to the site of adaptation and application within a country or outside the country. Although the term technology is wide with individuals having several views, it is often identified with knowledge about improved machinery, product and processes. Engineering Technology is, therefore, a true innovation featured with a body of knowledge devoted to creating tools processing actions and extracting of materials.

Nigeria as a country is the major driver of economic growth has faced serious price fall within the last decades. To stabilize the Nigerian economy, there is a pressing need to diversify her economy. This Economic Diversification can be achieved through technological advancement in engineering evoked by technological transfer and acquisition (Mansfield, 1975).

Significantly, according to Ramanathan (2009), economists have also recognized the fact that adequate transfer and acquisition of technology is at the heart of the process of economic development/growth, and that the progress of both developed and developing countries like  Nigeria depends very strongly on the extent and efficiency of such transfer and acquisition(Jacob and Umoh, 2018).Therefore, this paper presentation underscores the prominence of the proper planning, application and utilization of engineering technology as a means of development and diversification of the Nigerian economy.
